Precision-shaped preforms are sintered at temperatures that range from 2400 to 2700 degrees Fahrenheit. Vista uses programmable sinter hip and vacuum furnaces to sinter preforms to maintain material integrity and achieve proper specifications.
Precise calculations compensate for shrinkage, which can be as high as 25%.
Once sintered, the preforms are cleaned before a final dimensional check against customer specifications.
If tapping holes are needed, the preforms are heated and a soft invar plug is brazed in place.
Finished preforms are again sandblasted and inspected to ensure customer satisfaction.
